Moet Sure Does Taste Dam Good Watching the Caribbean Sea

January 14th, 2009

I don’t know about you but I do love the odd bottle of Moet et Chandon Champagne and for some reason it goes down real well here in Barbados, especially when the sun is shining and I’m enjoying the magnificent view of the Caribbean Sea. And of course the most important element of drinking Champagne is having fantastic company such as the wife.

Because I’m not rich  I make sure when I leave Barbados I take in as many bottles of duty free Champagne as I can when I return, I’m not crazy the price they charge for the stuff here in Barbados would bankrupt me, and stupid me thought it was expensive in the UK, until I came to this island.

Where Have All the People Gone?

December 3rd, 2008

Today’s picture is another daytime shot from St Lawrence Gap area of Barbados. This part of the Gap is where a lot of the action happens and during the night this stretch is full of people out enjoying themselves.

As you can see it is almost like a ghost town during the day, it is hard to believe it is a hot bed of action during the night. But believe me the place changes dramatically during the evening and it comes alive with part goers, families, street vendors and loads of bars and eating places looking for your company!

Two Shacks Side By Side

November 27th, 2008

I couldn’t help but notice these two shacks, which are located opposite Carlisle Bay in Barbados. The Heineken Shack, which is probably a wee bar or eating-place and is obviously well maintained and looked after and right next door you have someone’s house which looks like it is ready to blow away.

I find you come across many contrasts like this in Barbados and I guess it is things like this that give the island its unique character. I wish the Heineken Shack was open because I could have done with an ice-cold bottle of the stuff.

The Paris Bakery is in Bridgetown, Honestly It is

November 13th, 2008

I came across this delightful little bakery called the Paris Bakery in the capital of Barbados, which is of course Bridgetown. It even sells croissants, and a good range of delicious cakes and pastries.

When I first saw the Paris Bakery it reminded me on a Bakery I use to frequent in Paris in France. Whenever I’m in Bridgetown I will be making a detour to the Paris Bakery for something to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Fast Food All Over Barbados

November 3rd, 2008

Any one that has ever been to Barbados will have at some point during there trip either sampled or at the very least past bye a Chefette Fast Food Restaurant, they quite literally seem to be everywhere. If on the other hand you have never been to Barbados you will probably have never heard of Chefette.

I suppose Chefette are to Barbados what McDonalds and Burger King are to most of the rest of the world. You wont find one single McDonalds or Burger King on the whole island, I know it is hard to believe but it is true. As far as fast food goes Chefette aint too bad at all.
