They Sure Are Funny Looking Sheep In Barbados

February 20th, 2009

I came across a few sheep doing what they do and that is of course eating grass, or is what they do best is being on my plate and been eaten by me? If mutton is cooked right it can be quite tasty, but like most people I prefer juicy tender lamb.

I have always been confused by the way sheep look here in Barbados, compared to back home in Scotland. They look more like a goat here. But I suppose if they had wool on them like they do back home they would probably die from the heat.

I came across this small flock of sheep walking down the road heading to the beach and there was about 8 of them, but they just wouldn’t listen to me as I tried to get them all in the same picture.

East Point Lighthouse In Barbados

January 12th, 2009

If you want to find a beauty spot with some amazing views and you are in a place that has a coastline, it is always a good bet to go and find the nearest lighthouses. Barbados, is of course an island and there are quite a few lighthouses scattered around the it.

So the other day I went in search of East Point Lighthouse, which was located at place in Barbados, called Ragged Point. The name of the location Ragged Point conjures up, cliffs and magnificent views in my mind, and it was exactly that!

One thing that I love about Barbados is the fact that very few tourists seem to want to  get out and about and visit the various beauty spots on the island, which means that when you go and visit them, they are usually deserted and you have them all to yourself. When I visited East Point Lighthouse here in Barbados, there wasn’t another soul in site.

The Sun Is Setting and Daylight is Almost Done

January 9th, 2009

For me there is something almost magically about watching the sunset and Barbados is an island that sure doesn’t disappoint in that department. I must admit that you are spoilt in Barbados if you love watching the Sunset, because there are numerous beautiful places from, which to watch it happen.

This particular picture was taken at Keizer Hill, which is near Cotton Bay in Barbados and it is a particularly beautiful spot from, which to watch the sunset. I would defiantly recommend it for all you romantics out there and anybody else that appreciates the magic of watching the sunset.

What A Buzz On the Waters of Barbados

January 9th, 2009

I think this picture captures pretty much captures what Kitesurfing is all about. It doesn’t look too complicated but then again those that know what they are doing always make it look so easy.

By embracing the power of the wind and sea, you can make your board reach amazing speeds and fly up to 20 feet into the air. I was impressed by the speed that some of the Kitesurfers were reaching at Silversands here in Barbados, even though I never personally witnessed anybody moving more than a feet or two off the sea.

For all you thrill seekers and adrenalin junkies out there, if you haven’t tried out Kitesurfing you are missing out on what looks like an amazing ride!

The Swimming Pool is Waiting For You

December 27th, 2008

I woke up early one morning when I was staying at a hotel beside Maxwell Beach in Barbados and the swimming pool looked so inviting! I quickly took the picture and put on a pair of trunks and jumped straight in there.

Because the sun had only just started to rise, the swimming pool was real cold and I felt like I was going to have a heart attack when I my body hit the water. Fortunately it only took a few seconds to acclimatize to the water and I then had a fantastic wee swim.

It sure was a great way to begin the day with the early morning sun gently beating down on me and the calming sound of the Caribbean Sea in the background.
