Waiting At The Bus Stop in the Scotland District, Which is in Barbados!

August 8th, 2008

Being a Scotsman living in Barbados, this bus shelter was always going to catch my attention. The Scotland District is an area within the Parish of St Andrew in Barbados. The Scotland District was giving this name by Scottish Settlers because it reminded them to a certain extent of the fields and hills back home.

St Andrew is of course the Patron Saint of Scotland and the highest point in Barbados can be found in the Scotland District, which is Mount Hillaby at 340 m above sea level. A wee bit smaller than Scotland’s great mountain Ben Nevis that stands at 1344 m above sea level.
